Wildfire Energy Wins the 2025 Global Sustainability Award from the Institute of Chemical Engineers!

Wildfire Energy is pleased to announce that it has been named the winner of the 2025 Global Sustainability Award from the Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) at their annual gala awards dinner held in the United Kingdom on Thursday November 20th.

This is further international recognition of Wildfire Energy’s innovative “Moving Injection Horizontal Gasification” technology that can process heterogeneous wastes and residual biomass feedstocks into a high quality syngas for the production of renewable energy, hydrogen, biofuels and sustainable aviation fuel. This award tops off Wildfire Energy’s earlier win of the IChemE 2025 Australasian Sustainability Award.

The IChemE Global Sustainability Award, sponsored by global catalyst and technology company Johnson Matthey, is fiercely competed for each year and recognises people, projects and organisations that demonstrate chemical engineering excellence and can change the world for the better. Now in their 31st year, the IChemE Awards are widely recognised as the world’s most prestigious chemical engineering awards.

With more than 100 finalists across 16 categories, the award program featured an international line-up of winners and highly commended entries, including entries from the US, Germany, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and more.

The IChemE Global Awards were presented at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester, UK.

In the Sustainability category, Wildfire Energy managed to hold off amazing competition from prestigious finalists such as Petronas, Imperial College London, Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Company, Lancaster and Cardiff Universities amongst others.  Our friend Dr Michael Green kindly accepted the Award on our behalf at the gala dinner held in Manchester, UK.

Wildfire Energy wishes to thank the Institute of Chemical Engineers for supporting innovation and holding the global awards program. Wildfire Energy also congratulates all of the other winners and finalists and thanks all of the organisations that participated in the event.

About Wildfire Energy:

Wildfire Energy’s vision is to eliminate landfill by turning residual wastes into renewable energy, hydrogen and sustainable fuels. Global solid waste generation is over 2 billion tonnes annually and landfills are responsible for over 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Wildfire Energy’s solution is called MIHG (moving injection horizontal gasification), a simple process which converts waste into electricity, hydrogen and sustainable fuels with net negative carbon emissions. Wildfire Energy has developed modular plants which can be rapidly deployed and used to convert biomass and waste into renewable energy products at low cost.
